2019 Volkswagen Jetta vs. 2019 Honda Civic

Many drivers in the St Louis region compare the Volkswagen Jetta vs. Honda Civic, but only one of these vehicles has everything you’ll need to enjoy your time on the road! In fact, the 2019 Jetta easily wins out in most of the areas important to our friends and neighbors. With our Jetta vs. Civic head-to-head, you can see which sedan provides the interior features, safety technology, and performance specs that you desire!

Interior: VW Jetta vs. Honda Civic

Comparing the interior of the Volkswagen Jetta vs. Honda Civic, the first thing you’ll notice is that there’s a considerable amount of overlap between these vehicles. After all, both models include useful technologies like Bluetooth® hands-free calling, Bluetooth® audio streaming, and an integrated rearview camera. They also offer the same amount of rear legroom.

With that said, the Jetta certainly has more than a few advantages. In its baseline trim, the VW includes 60/40 split-folding rear seats, 12-volt power outlets, and an 8-inch touchscreen. You’ll also be able to choose from several ambient lighting options. If you want these same features in a Honda Civic, you’ll need to reach for a much more pricey trim package.

Safety: VW Jetta vs. Honda Civic

The Honda Civic includes the Honda Sensing® safety suite, standard. While this suite includes a variety of useful safety features, there are several useful technologies that are still missing. In fact, only the VW Jetta offers a blind spot warning system and a rear cross traffic monitor as options in its base trim level. In order to access either of these safety features in the Honda Civic, you’ll need to upgrade with a more expensive trim. The base model Jetta also comes standard with all-season tires, which last longer and maintain their traction better than the performance tires you’ll find on the Civic. What’s more, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the headlights of the Jetta are better than those of the Honda Civic.
