Your brake pads are quite literally what keeps you from rolling out of control in your car. The friction they provide is what slows your rotors, which are big cylinders attached to your axle and wheel. When you need a brake pad replacement, it’s best not to delay, and we here at Suntrup Volkswagen can help you get that replacement taken care of so that you don’t have to worry about your braking. We won’t have to worry either because we’ll know that your car has had the best brake pad replacement it can get. We can provide a replacement for the front or rear pads, or both.
A brake pad replacement starts with taking the wheel off, which exposes the brake mechanisms you need to access. Once those are exposed, a securing bolt is removed so that your brakes can pivot outward, giving us access to the brake pad itself. We then remove the old brake pad and the clips holding it in place, and then we put a new brake pad and new clips onto the pivoted caliper. After that, it’s only a matter of pivoting the calipers back in, securing them, and placing the wheel back on the car, and it’s all done! Our certified technicians will make sure to check the condition of the rest of your braking system as well and the level of your brake fluid.
Even though the service may be finished, we don’t give you your car back just yet. We treat your vehicle with a complimentary multi-point inspection, from which we’ll give you the results so you can know your car’s needs. After that, we also provide a complimentary car wash, so your car will be shiny and clean when it comes back to you! Good service on the inside, good looking on the outside; that’s our goal for your car.
Since brake pads are designed to wear down, they’re also designed to let you know when they’re worn. Most brake pads have a small piece of metal inside of them, at about the level right before you need to change the pads, so when you wear down to that level, you hear a loud squealing. While it may be shocking, that sound is just your brakes letting you know you’ll need a pad replacement asap, so come on down if you hear it! You can also check your owner’s manual for guidance on when to replace your brake pads regularly.
We have so many customers that come back to us because we care about you. We work to keep you safe and happy, and at the end of the day, that’s the best thing we can do. Be sure to check our service specials for discounts on regular maintenance your VW may need, like an oil change or tire rotation. Set up your appointment online today, and we’ll show you that same care and hard work!
