Update: Suntrup contacted me, apologized for the overlooked items and reimbursed me for the issues and inconvenience. The salesman was great but upon trying to complete tasks after purchasing my truck, the suntrup team itself did a terrible job. I found the key they sold me not only was a dumbed down version fob with no remote start button, but the actual key wasn’t even cut. So had to pay $400+ to rectify that w a duplicate fob and original key cut. 2 recalls on the truck had never been addressed. THEN I submit the papers that Suntrup gave me for title purposes and when I get to the DMV, they’re expired. Seeing as this particular truck was on their lot for 3 months, surely suntrup would’ve seen that pop up in their system during the sale and chose to ignore it.

If you’re thinking of using this dealership…..DON’T. Don’t waste your time and money using Zach Seiler as a “salesman”either. For a customer giving a company business and salesperson that makes commission off of my purchase I have never been spoken to in person and through text message the way that I was at this dealership and from this “salesman”. I was told things would be taken care of on a used vehicle that weren’t fixed correctly until I asked to speak to higher management. The vehicle that we purchased went through the dealerships “inspection” and was deemed as road safe. I took the vehicle to a state certified mechanic in my hometown which is over an hour away from the dealerships location. There were multiple things found that wouldn’t pass a state inspection by their qualifications. There was also a mechanics glove found melted to the muffler of the vehicle. The dealership couldn’t explain why that wasn’t found during their own inspection. I was actually told by the sales manager that “you might have picked it up off of the road while driving”. While having conversation with Zach the “salesman” I was told “the dealership has done more than they are required to” and not to “bite the hand that feeds me”. I had to kindly remind him that he just made commission off of my purchase so technically I was feeding him. The vehicle didn’t have an owners manual in it so I requested one. I was told that they don’t give them out anymore but to use Google if I had any issues. I chose this dealership based on the knowledge of the owners daughter(s) Instagram videos about car buying and how women can at times be treated differently during the process. I thought I would no doubt have a great experience. Suntrup VW has unbelievably disappointing. They are rude, pushy and condescending. As a male Zach should be ashamed speaking to a female the way that he did and Ryan the sales manager matched his attitude. I still have things in a written agreement signed by myself and the sales manger that have not be taken care of. As far as the dealership they should be ashamed that they have employees representing their company in this way.
Suntrup has made buying a used car quite the customer experience. Kai was great to work with and made sure all items were addressed and his communication was next level. The lifetime powertrain warranty on a used vehicle certainly gives me a sense of confidence in buying used. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a higher end used SUV.

Initially, we had a decent buying experience with Suntrup VW and Kainoa Layton our salesman on 8/5/25. We were told that the vehicle needed to be inspected/repaired to past Safety and Emissions. We didn't receive our vehicle back until 9/1 when we drove 45 minutes to pick up the vehicle “completely fixed” per the assurance of Service Manager Rick. Five days later on 9/6, we broke down on the highway while bringing it back to Suntrup VW because it was overheating with engine lights aglow and spitting coolant and oil everywhere. We spent 6 hours waiting to be towed back to the dealership and naively decided to give Suntrup another chance to remedy this. The Jeep was again in their shop for several more weeks. We got it back on 9/22 and surprise: Suntrup VW and their service department let us drive this vehicle with a broken drag-link, the worst one our mechanic has ever seen! This defect/damage is not something that could be missed in an honestly COMPLETED Safety Inspection- which would have immediately found/fixed this major safety issue when they had it for the first 4 weeks and supposedly did thorough dealer, safety and emissions inspections. The irony is that the drag-link is a fairly cheap repair ~$360, but this FAILURE while driving WOULD CAUSE US TO LOSE COMPLETE STEERING CONTROL before being thrown around the highway and KILLING US AND EVERYONE AROUND US DRIVING!! I am so angry that I sent my husband to work in this vehicle and drove my young CHILDREN all over St. Louis in a LITERAL ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN due the dishonesty, ignorance, incompetence, and lack of regard for human safety from Suntrup! Thank God we got it to our mechanic early on 9/23 to find this out or we never would have know until we CRASHED and BURNED due to Suntrup pencil whipping their safety and emissions inspections. Our mechanic said that there’s NO WAY IN xxxx he would drive this Jeep like that and he advised that we don't drive it either- it needs to be towed back to the dealer. SUNTRUP VW is now ignoring our calls and wont return our requests for refund or remedy. Our mechanic also found leaking axle seals (3 of 4) which should’ve been spotted on brake/rotor repairs in the first month that Suntrup VW had the Jeep and told us they were doing the repairs. We are in complete disgust and disbelief at the lack of honesty, concern for others safety, quality workmanship, and time and money already invested/wasted in what should’ve been a great experience buying a vehicle with a dealership that we trusted. Per MO State Highway Patrol, Safety and Emissions on this vehicle should NEVER have passed in its current condition. I will now make it my personal mission that NO ONE will ever receive an inferior quality vehicle that could KILL them due to this dealership's (or any other dealers) negligence. Rick Thayer (Service Mgr.), Beau Schwartz (Sales Mgr.), Kainoa Layton (sales) and anyone else at SunTRAP VW that wont return our calls, READ IT HERE: lawyers, MO State HP Troop C, and MO Attorney General have been contacted. Everything was great up until it was time to pay our down payment, which was a significant amount! No one told us that we could not put the down payment of half the cars price, on our debit card! He wanted us to go back home and get a check. No, we live 30 minutes away. Plus, we do not have checks for that account. Then wanted to do a wire transfer, then suggested going to the bank the next day for a cashiers check. He stated, they did not want to take a debit card, because they get charged 5%. That’s not my problem. If the rules of Suntrup Volkswagen are that you can’t pay with a debit card, then you should inform the buyer of this before hand!!!! Especially when they told you they would be putting half down on a brand new Jetta. Do not waste my time trying to make me feel bad for you getting charged a fee for us using a form of payment. Then the finance guy had to question with an attitude, if we can even withdraw that amount on our debit! YES, we can. In fact, just last year when we purchased our 24 Jetta from Bommarito Volkswagen they never once questioned it! we put the same amount down then! So here is my suggestion, when someone tells Suntrup they will be putting a large sum of money down on a car, tell them the forms of payment that you will take beforehand!

Brandon was so very helpful with the process, driving an hour/hour and a half multiple days during the car crisis was not a fun time, but his high energy and positive energy made the experience. He truly cares for people and what is best for them.
I had an extremely disappointing experience at Suntrup VW. My salesperson, AJ, exhibited behavior that was not only disrespectful but also marked by dishonesty and deceit. Despite paying the sticker price, additional fees, such as a surprising $500 no-trade-in fee, were introduced – then I was told the price shown on their website was only for people who financed through the dealership. (I was paying cash) details that were conspicuously absent from their website. The condition of the front tires was another concern; AJ initially contended they were within acceptable specifications. When I requested to speak with the sales manager regarding this matter, AJ asserted he lacked the technical expertise to comment so why did I want to talk to him. Eventually, they did agree to replace the tires. Upon our arrival at the dealership, AJ enthusiastically introduced a contest in which purchasers could throw a bean bag for a chance to win either a $50 gas card, complimentary floor mats, or a $500 discount on the car. Post-purchase, I inquired about participating in this contest, only to be informed that we did not meet the criteria. AJ's explanation for this exclusion was rather puzzling and lacked clarity. Towards the end of the process, after all paperwork had been signed, AJ informed me that the car came with only one key fob, a potential additional expense of about $300. My decision to purchase the car was primarily based on my trust in VW as a reputable brand, as well as the assurance of a VW warranty. Regrettably, my confidence lies with the brand and not with AJ. I sincerely hope that this level of deceitfulness is not indicative of the dealership's overall training. The One shining star was their service department. They did an excellent job getting my car ready for pickup. I would have no problem taking my car to get serviced at Suntrup VW. Jjust don't buy a car from Suntrup VW....or at least be aware of these deceitful practices.

My Title application which we have called about several times and nobody has called us back. The net price is incorrect, should be $19,005. I called the DMV in Jeff City about it and was told they tax on the actual net price, so this must be changed. I was also told that I must bring the old title with me. I was never given one! I won’t do business with a dealership that ignores the many phone calls and never returns the calls or takes care of the two problems I’m left with.

I purchased a new VW Jetta through Tony. Everything went smoothly until the pick-up. Earlier in the day, I sent Tony my insurance and drivers license as requested and let him know that I'd be by after work to pick up. When I arrived, no one knew that I was picking up the car and nothing in my file had been updated. I had to wait while the team on staff could find my car. I was told that Tony had left early for vacation and overheard the team comment to each other that it was "another Tony issue." They also needed a copy of my driver's license and my insurance card again - because it was never uploaded to my file. Finally I met with Finance to turn over the check. They completed their paperwork and accepted the check from my bank (and validated the amount owed against the check). I walked out with my keys to my car and to my surprise the car had no floormats at all. When I had test drove the car, there were mats in the trunk - but they were nowhere in sight. I almost walked back in and cancelled the deal, but Will from the team went and searched and search for mats and brought me a new set. He single-handedly saved Suntrup's sale. Fast forward a couple weeks and I get a call from the Finance team that the check (the one they themselves had verified) was incorrect and I owed additional money. Their suggestion was to go back to my bank and re-do the loan - that was already paid out to Suntrup and which Suntrup had already cashed the check. I probably could have done that had it not been literally weeks since the loan was done and they had cashed the check. The New Car Sales Manager was out to lunch with a Sales Rep and I was given the Used Car Sales Manager. He was nice enough, but no real help and said he would talk to the New Car Sales Manager when he returned from lunch. No surprises, the New Car Sales Manager didn't return from lunch and couldn't be bothered to return my call himself to account for the failings of every department under him. Instead, I was the Used Car Sales Manager who could offer nothing but a free tank of gas for my "inconvenience." Even more jarring was finding that the sticker price (which has been taken out of every car on their lot) in my glovebox and that it was lower than I paid. Moral of the story: Suntrup has poor customer service, poor follow through, poor management, poor Finance representatives, and poor procedures. Bommarito has the same cars for the same price and I'd recommend going to them.

Our salesman Tony was amazing to work with however, when we got to finances Guy was very aggressive and honestly rude. During the process of signing the paperwork he became condescending when we were going over if we wanted extended warranty or not. Then when we noticed the total price of the car was higher than we were originally told we asked about it and he said "im not the sales guy you'll have to ask them". So we asked to speak to Tony again and Guy said "why? what's your problem". We explained the numbers weren't what we were told originally and he "called" someone then leaned back in his chair and said "look this is the total cost, I asked I don't know what you're confused about". Honestly I would have walked away from the car because Guy was so rude but my husband wanted to go ahead with the purchase. I will not buy another car from here because of him. Tony was great but we probably won't work with this dealer again. I'll stick with Bommarito like I have with all my cars and I'll recommend everyone else skips them too.

My first interaction with Suntrup was on-line. They immediately sent me a reply about the vehicle and I believe it was on a Sunday. (I was impressed by that.!) Her name was Veronica and she did an excellent job with the communication between myself and the dealership. When I arrive to the dealership my sales person Kainoa Payton was so kind, patient and helpful. I was running behind due to rush-hour and work but when I arrived the finance department and my sales person was very patient with me. I arrived at 5pm and they closed at 6pm. They wasn’t rushing me and I was able to drive my vehicle in peace. Everything checked out fine and I am so glad that I was able to find this vehicle at Suntrup. This is the first dealership that I came across and they have a program with the transmission and the engine stay under a warranty for the life time you have the vehicle. I really wish that I have came across this dealership much sooner. KB

Purchased a vehicle and the very next day noticed that they sent me home with the temp tags to an incorrect vehicle. Called and spoke with the sales guy and then spoke directly to Guy the very next day. Was told they would send me updated registration and I never received it. I reached out via text and phone call several times after that; each time requesting a manager and never could get in touch with one. Finally 1.5 months later I spoked with the sales guy; left guy a voicemail, then finally received a call from the manager who was checking to see if Guy had called me back which he had not. Finally at almost 7 pm guy returned my call, attitude in hand, and tried to say he had not received a voicemail from me which I’m sure he had not to mention I spoke directly with him the day after purchasing the car. He then tells me that they forgot to charge me sales tax and this whole time I’ve been waiting for my plates, they never sent them off to be mailed to me to begin with. That it was caught in an audit conveniently just now when I’ve made a complaint. They’re going to have to unravel my financing deal and redo the deal, funny how no one wants to offer to reduce the price or offer any kind of credit for the almost 2 months of no call backs, multiple paperwork errors, and errors on their part. I will likely not do business here due to the attitude that was had on the phone due to their mistakes in the financing department. Unfortunate because the sales staff was great.
Bought my brand new 2021 Tiguan. Center panel fell off within a month and they said they couldn’t fix it for a month and when I said that was unacceptable their employee told me to go xxxx my self.
I love Suntrup VW. Love my VW Atlas Launch Edition! It's an awesome vehicle for travel (holds a ton of stuff) and for everyday use(excellent mileage.) My sales person, Madeline is so knowledgeable. Brand new 2022 Volkswagen with less than 20 miles broke down, no fix for the issue due to covid and no response from Armin or anyone else with dealership. I've asked the dealership to unwind the deal for us, being none of this is our fault and they say this is out of their hands. Hands down worst service ever
